This post is a bit out of the ordinary for my regular Money Mummy readers.  Today it is not all about the thrilling topics of tax, superannuation or mortgages.  No! Today is all about sharing the bloggy love and you getting to know more about what I like to read and finding out a bit more about the “mummy” behind the “money”.

You see, this week I got nominated for a ‘Sisterhood of the World Bloggers Award’ by the wonderful Emily of Emily Morgan Writes.  Emily is an amazing writer and her site is a wonderful source of inspiration and information for all writers.  She helps to improve my writing with her invaluable tips and expertise.  Check her out her site here.  So thank you Emily for nominating me!

So what is the award all about?  The rules of this award are pretty straight-forward.  The award is shared among female bloggers who inspire one another with their writing.

My job as a recipient is to:

  1. Post the logo on my blog.
  2. Thank the person who nominated me.  Thanks Emily! :-)
  3. Choose 10-12 other ladies who blog as my nominees.
  4. Post the links to the nominees’ blogs and notify each of them on their blog.

I thought this award would be a great opportunity to introduce you all to some of my favourite bloggers and share some of the bloggy love.  These ladies inform me, inspire me, expand my horizons and challenge how I think.  Make sure you do yourself a favour and stop by a few of them.  I promise, you won’t regret it.

So, lets get in to it!

(1) Kindness By Design

My first nominee is the wonderful Kendall from Kindness By Design.  Kendall is kindness not only in name but also in nature.  Her blog inspires me to be a better person and reminds me that looking good does not be at the expense of my ethics or the environment.  Kendall is eco chic personified, championing designers and retailers that are both ethical and eco-friendly.  Kendall has gone out of her way to help me navigate my way through the blogosphere and for her kindness I am truly grateful.  A fantastic blogger and a wonderful friend, who is looking to make our world a better place.  Check her out here or on Facebook here.

(2) Mums Take Five

If you want quick and easy ideas on a craft to do with the kids or something for dinner then Nic and Bel at Mums Take Five are the ladies to see.  They have a raft of awesome ideas that inspire and amaze me.  We will definitely be instituting the dinosaur garden in our household, and check out their Facebook page for the amazing artwork Bel put on her son’s wall.  For more ideas have a look at their site here and Facebook page here.  p.s they were also this month’s hosts of the Digital Parents Blog Carnival – well done ladies!

(3) The Thrifty Issue

Alison from the Thrifty Issue is my go-to lady on all things thrifty.  She has lots of ideas on how to be smart with your cash while still enjoying life.  I particularly like her Friday night “Worthy Wine” posts.  Great wines for under $10!!!  Who knew???  Alison is kind, generous and a wise counsel to me on all things blogging.  Check out her site here and on Facebook here.

(4) Mummy Hearts Money

Next up is another blogger in the money space, it is the lovely Elise from Mummy Hearts Money.  Elise has great tips on how to make your dollar stretch further.  Make sure you check out her ‘Make me rich’ series about her journey to employing a financial planner.  Not only is Elise great with money but she has a rockin’ sausage roll recipe which was so easy even I could make it! Check Elise out here and on Facebook here.

(5) The Fresh Home Cook

Now you know you have an awesome cooking site when you inspire me to want to be a better cook!  This is exactly what Jodie from The Fresh Home Cook has done for me!  Her recipes are fabulous and the photography amazing.  Do not look at her site if you are hungry though, the pics are to die for!  I cannot tell you what a great job Jodie is doing in inspiring me to be better in the kitchen and not dislike it quite so much :-)  Check out Jodie’s site here and on Facebook here.

(6) Honey You Baked

Yes another cooking site!  What is happening to me?  However, this is another cracker.  If you are looking for great cooking ideas and household tips, Danni and Mel are the ladies to check out.  Their lunch box ideas are amazing and are sure to tempt the fussiest of eaters!  Check out Danni and Mel’s site here and on Facebook here.

(7) Dr Leanne Winter – Raising Boys

Dr Leanne Winter is a parenting researcher and her site is devoted to the joys and challenges of raising boys.  As you all know, I have a girl, but I still find Leanne’s advice fundamental in helping me think differently about how I parent and giving me ideas on how to improve my parenting skills.  If you have boys or girls or a mix of both Dr Leanne Winter, is definitely worth a read.  Check out her site here and on Facebook here.

(8) The Plumbette

Bec is so many amazing things – she is a mum, a blogger, a fashion stylist and a female plumber.  When my daughter grows up I want her to have the option to enter a trade, not just the traditional female ones but anything she wants to do.  Bec is a trail-blazer for all our daughters and the best part is she shares her knowledge and journey with all of us.  Check out her great blog here and her Facebook page here.

(9) You Learn Something New Every Day

I am passionate about reading to my daughter, and Emily from You Learn Something New Every Day has fantastic ideas on what to read to your children.  Check out her site here and Facebook page here

(10) Fertile Healing

This is a new blog for me but it is on a topic very close to my heart, infertility.  We struggled to get our daughter and it is something I will never forget.  We did not use IVF but having watched several friends go through it I think it is a magnificent idea to have a site dedicated to infertility and the IVF process.  Check it out here and on Facebook here.

I hope you get a chance to check out some of these great reads and I promise we will be back to our usual Money Mummy fare next week with “Should I fix the interest rate on my mortgage?”.  Stay Tuned!
